Hi, my name is Taylor and I am a religious goal completer.
When I was seven years old, my New Year’s resolution was to become a Vegetarian. Determined to save the animals, I said goodbye to my deep-rooted love for the taste of bacon and quit cold turkey (literally and figuratively). 13 years later, I am still a Vegetarian.
My dedication to New Year’s resolutions took to a new level this year when I decided that 2024 would be the year I ran a half-marathon. The most I had ever run consecutively before setting this goal was three miles. No big deal, I thought, I’ll train and be completely fine. I never got around to the training (I’m faulted with procrastination). Though mentally torturing, I ran (most of) the 13.1 miles and accomplished my goal.
Although I can’t say I single-handedly saved the animals or became an avid runner, I have become more strong-willed and determined to succeed at my goals. This mindset manifests in all aspects of my life. I twist, turn, and jump through hurdles to check off my goals. Even if I wait until the last minute or kick myself for over-committing to tasks, I never leave anything undone.
